Austin Metcalf and Karmelo Anthony: Self-Defense or Murder?

On April 2, 2025 17 year old Austin Metcalf in Frisco, Texas ended up in a situation that would result in another 17 year old deceased and he going to jail.

BACKGROUND

Karmelo Anthony is a 17 year old Black child, 5'9 and 130 pounds and a 4.0 GPA student, and athlete and a hero, who saved his brother from a near drowning. He's never been arrested and no disciplinary action from school, a really good child, he's very skinny and small for his size.

Austin Metcalf and Hunter Metcalf are 17 year old twins, white children, standing at 6 feet tall and 225 pounds, academically good students, who also have 4.0 averages and are athletes, Austin is a star athlete and is also MVP.

However, on a rainy day in April, several students would run under a tent, including Karmelo who wanted to stay dry out of the rain, he was then singled out by Austin, words exchanged, to the point, that Karmelo felt threatened and stated "touch me and see what happens", ultimately leading to Austin roughing Karmelo up and then apparently balling his fist up to Karmelo, as Karmelo says, "go ahead and punch me in my face".

More roughing up ensued before Karmelo reached into his bag, pulling out a knife and defending himself.

There are several stories about this, by witnesses, though we've all did that experiment in school where one person whispers or tell a story to another and by the time it gets to the last person things are a little different than the original.

So report that both Austin and Hunter roughed up Karmelo, some have also stated that they tried to take his belongings and break his cellphone.

Some have stated Austin said "You are under the white tent" and others say he said "You are under the wrong tent".

What We Know For Certain 

What we do know for certain is that Austin was the aggressor and in a bullying manor roughed up Karmelo that's a fact, and we also know for certain Karmelo stabbed him in response.

The sad part about this is three children's lives will be effected forever, one dead, one in jail fighting for his freedom and one who had to watch his twin die.

The Current Climate In America Under Trumpism And MAGAism

Under the current Trump MAGA administration, the climate of America is horrible, racism, racial violence, xenophobia, sexism, bullying, terrorism, and fascism is at all time high, emboldening the worse out of society and enabling, these type of exchanges i.e. fear-mongering and scapegoating to whites to be vigilant and against Blacks, immigrants, LGBTQIA+ or people who are non-white heterosexual men.

Then at the same time it heightened the fear and defensiveness amongst Blacks and other targeted groups, who are constantly in fear of some kind of racial violence or discrimination happening to them.
